• To serve as an advocate of programs for young children by communicating with the home, community, state, and nation regarding the importance of programs for young children.
• To define the components of high-quality programs for young children.
• To promote appropriate methods of assessment of young children as well as the management and evaluation of instructional programs.
• To promote among the members discussion and interchange of ideas, data, and information regarding curriculum, instructional strategies, and research in order to improve educational programs for young children.
• To cooperate with community agencies, professional organizations, and colleges and universities in the furtherance of aims and purposes of this organization.
