          Meet the 2019-2020 TAASPYC Board

Dana Biddy Dana Biddy, President

I began my career in education as a prekindergarten teacher in Austin ISD. I have served as an elementary assistant principal and principal in Clear Creek ISD and currently serves as the Coordinator for Early Childhood Education in Clear Creek ISD. I have a BS in Child Development, a MA in Early Childhood Education and a MEd in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Austin, and an EdD in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

  Sylina Valdez,  Past President

I am a Manager in the Early Childhood Division at the Texas Education Agency.  Prior to this role, I worked in Austin ISD as an Administrative Supervisor of Early Childhood. I have been in education for 18 years and have taught prekindergarten and kindergarten. I also had the opportunity to serve as an Instructional Coach at an early childhood campus in Austin ISD. Although I miss the daily interactions with children and teachers, I enjoy supporting early childhood programs across the state of Texas. I could say my career started at around age 7 when I would make my little brother play school with me. Since I can remember, I always wanted to be a teacher and I attribute that to having had positive experiences in school at an early age. I am a product of Head Start prekindergarten and am forever grateful for the wonderful foundation it instilled in me. My husband, Rich, and I have been married for 11 years and we enjoy trying out new places in and around the beautiful city of Austin.
